Requirements

WordQ 2 Windows

To install and use WordQ v2.6 for Windows, you need:

• A Windows® PC with 1 GHz or higher processor speed
• Windows® XP, Vista (32-bit Vista)*
• 512 MB RAM or more (1GB+ MB preferred with installation of high quality speech)
• Sound card and speakers or a headset

*Note: In 64-bit Vista, WordQ 2.4-2.6 will only function with 32-bit applications such as Microsoft Office 2007 and 32-bit Accessory applications located under \Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories.

WordQ 2 Mac OS X

To install and use WordQ v2.0 for Mac OS X, you need:

• An Apple computer with PowerPC or Intel processor
• Mac OS X 10.4.x - 10.5.x*
• 512 MB RAM or more (1GB+ MB preferred with installation of high quality speech)

*Note: In 64-bit Leopard (10.5) or Snow Leopard (10.6), WordQ 2.0 for Mac OS X will only function with 32-bit applications. An update for Snow Leopard is anticipated for November 2009.

SpeakQ

To install and use the SpeakQ plug-in, you need:

• WordQ 2 software pre-installed
• A Windows PC with 1 GHz or higher processor speed
• (2+ GHz preferred)
• SpeakQ English v1.6: Windows® XP, Vista (32-bit Vista)*(NOTE: Win 98 is not supported)
• SpeakQ Français v1.6 (Vista Français seulement) (32-bit Vista)* (NOTE: Win XP is not supported)
• 1GB+ MB RAM
• Sound card, noise-canceling microphone (headset or desktop), and headset or desktop speakers.

Network and single station requirements/hardware configuration

WordQ/SpeakQ has been designed for individual workstations with single or multiple users. That is, only one user may run a single installation at a time. However, that copy of WordQ/SpeakQ may open and run more than one user vocabulary file. There are no limits on the number of user vocabulary files used with one WordQ/SpeakQ installation.

WordQ v2.2-2.6 and SpeakQ v1.2-1.6 may installed with network support where WordQ/SpeakQ are installed as part of a master image on a workstation that is locked down with DeepFreeze or similar program. In this situation, all user files (word prediction and speech recognition) are saved on remote server in each user’s network workspace (User drive). See FAQ WordQ and SpeakQ Network Installation.
